| Ok where do I start. When I was 14 I had a 1986 Honda Prelude with good old dual carbs. Well I was driving to school on a school permit and we soon found out that the carbs were not synced, and that it would cost more to fix the problem than what we paid for the car. So the search began for a new car. I had remembered a car that my uncle had that I used to love when I was like 8. So I wrote my uncle an e-mail asking him if I could purchase it from him. He wrote back and said that it probably would not be the best car for an everyday drive. Boy Was HE Right! He said I could have the car if I paid the storage bill for it. The bill was only $121.00. So we got the car home and began to check some stuff out. It came with a set of mag rims that I have never seen on another VW still to this date. Anyways we finally got the engine to fire up. The oil instantly began, not dripping, but POURING out of the bottom of the engine. So we had one of the local VW mechanics that my dad knew fix it. After that we tried to drive it and found out that 3rd gear was missing. So we went out and bought another transmission from a junk yard just to find out that 1st gear was out of that one! So they finally sold us a Type 3 transmission and said that it was probably gonna have all the gears and it did. Then the sanding began. IT WAS A NIGHTMARE! The people that had owned the car before us painted it sky blue but must not have put hardner in the paint so on a really hot day you could take a razor and it would chunk right off. So I had to go over the entire car to get that off. We then got it all primered and what not and it sat there till I got the money for the doors and windows. We ordered the doors and back window and waited for 6 months. In that six months I was able to work on the interior slightly. Past that everything is history. We painted it Chrome Taxi Yellow around September and put black stripes down the car. Im 16 now and my plans are to finish the interior and begin building an engine for it. Pics To Come Soon |
