| Oct. 2002 I had purchased a couple of traditional archery bows off ebay. I just couldn't believe all the things for sale there like toys when I was a child. I looked and there were three or four BGTs for sale. About the same time I'd read in the Miscellaneous Items of a local paper Bradley GT for sale $1250. A bit too much for me be interested in. About three weeks later, same guy ran the add again, this time @ $950. This was @ 5:30 in the morning. I decided to wait at least until 7:00. @ 6:53 I called. Asked if he still had it, he did, ask if I could come see it, he said when? I said soon as I can get there. He said okay, I was there in about 19 minutes. Flat right front tire. Crack in the passenger gull. The rear Sundowner was sagging, cracked and frosted from age. The interior was rough, cracked and wet. I asked if it ran. He said it did before the ignition switch played out about four months ago. I asked if he'd take $800 cash, hesitation then he said "8 1/4", I said deal. Keep in mind, my wife is asleep this early on a Saturday morning. I picked up a U-HAUL towdolly. Pulled the car home no problem even if it was raining all day. Unloaded next to the curb, took the tolly back. Returned home, pushed the car into the driveway then went inside. Wife asked "What is that?" I then stated in a very male, knowing she mostly wears the pants in the family "my new car?" Jan. 2003, she went with me to pick up a virgin kit in Alabama, though not complete, it was well worth a day trip & $300. I've gone all the way down to the chassis, replacing the pans, making drops and working my way back up. |
